There are countless things that you could use as "inclusions" when it comes to resin crafting. Even household items that you may not think about, but would have readily at your fingertips, just waiting to be encased in resin.
For example: buttons, paperclips, hard candies, old pieces of jewelry, children's toys, shells, beach sand, rocks, flowers, sticks, stickers, blocks, the possibilities are endless. If you are looking for more unique items, there are also many craft sites that specialize in inclusions and additives for resin crafting. My go-tos are Miniature Sweet, Sophie and Toffee and your even your common neighbourhood dollar stores. The dollar stores, and thrift stores are a treasure trove for everything you can put in resin crafting. Be sure to always look down school supply aisles, craft aisles and makeup sections. Many eyeshadows work just as well, if not better than expensive mica powders, not to mention the brushes and applicators for makeup, can be used for resin crafting. Sometimes, when you go to thrift shops, be sure to check the hanging bags on walls that may contain all sorts of things, including stickers, toys, vinyl, findings, and even silicone molds that are definitely cheaper than buying "resin specific" items from stores like Michaels etc. |
Glitters
I know some people swear by ordering from expensive online websites or crafters, but I can't get past that unnecessary cost. I have always purchased glitter from stores like Dollartree, Dollarama, Walmart and Michael's. The range of colours and texture, and coarseness of glitter is available all over now, and is substantially cheaper than buying from a "crafter/website". Polymer Clay Cane Slices
These are so much fun to use, since they come in so many shapes, colours and themes. Companies like Miniature Sweet/Sophie & Toffee specialize in polymer clay slices (and full canes). Pretty much every fruit you can think of is available. Also, animals, food, holiday themes, colours, flowers, etc etc, the list goes on. The above mentioned sites also carry canes, that you cut yourself, depending on thickness you want for your project. If you're talented, you can purchase polymer clay and make your own canes to use in resin crafts. |
Findings
If you are making jewelry pieces, you will need to pick up some findings. These include: bails, hooks, jump rings, split rings, chain, eye hooks and eye pins, to name a few.
You can get so many different pendant and earring molds, so you need to get pieces to complete the project. Many dollar stores, Michael's, Walmart and Amazon all carry a variety. Additionally, stores like Miniature Sweet and Sophie & Toffee also carry them as well as countless online suppliers.
